Who we are:

Mersea Island Trust is a Registered Charity No: 206064 and is managed by volunteers who serve as Trustees or Committee members. They are responsible for the general organisation and controls, which include finance, fire safety, security matters, maintenance, and residents’ well-being.

Our mission statement:

To provide safe and good quality self-contained sheltered accommodation for the elderly on Mersea Island at both Mersea Court and Akhurst Court which meets the needs of the older generation in our community.

The wellbeing of our residents is fundamental to our ethos and values as an organisation. Oversight of the organisation is provided by Voluntary Trustees who have set the organisational strategy for the Trust.

Our aims are:

To provide onsite support for independent living supported by a 24-hour alarm call system provided by Amphora Homes Helpline system.

To ensure the organisation is compliant with legislation through the management of the organisation with paid staff and Trustee governance.

Where we see ourselves in five years’ time:

As a compliant and efficiently run sheltered housing scheme for the elderly, by adhering to appropriate legislation and regulations and ensuring the overall governance and management of the schemes is fit for purpose.
